2025 / 2026 Scholarships in Canada

The government of Canada is offering scholarships for international students. This scholarship program provides students from post-secondary institutions located in the new eligible countries/ territories with short-term exchange opportunities for study and research in Canadian post-secondary institutions at the college, undergraduate, and graduate levels. This scholarship program is facilitated through institutional collaborations and student exchange agreements between post-secondary institutions in Canada and eligible countries. Candidates must be registered as full-time students in their home institution at the time of application and during the entire duration of their study or research stay in Canada.

Limited number of scholarships will be awarded in the next competition, with the number increasing each year.

Duration of Scholarship

Duration for Master’s and Ph.D. is four months, or five to six months, or one academic term of study or research.

Scholarship Description/ Details

This scholarship program offers the following grants:

  • CAD 10,200 for college, undergraduate, or graduate students (Master’s and Ph.D.) for a minimum of four months or one academic term of study or research; or
  • CAD 12,700 for graduate students (Master’s and Ph.D.) for a period of five to six months of study or research
  • Visa or study/ work permit fees
  • Airfare, for the scholarship recipient only, to travel to Canada by the most direct and economical route and return airfare upon completion of the scholarship
  • Health insurance
  • Living expenses such as accommodation, utilities, and food
  • Ground public transportation, including a public transportation pass; and
  • Books and supplies are required for the recipient’s study or research, excluding computers and other equipment.

Canadian institutions are eligible to receive:

  • ✔ $500 per scholarship recipient to aid with administrative costs once the student arrives in Canada
  • ✔ reimbursement of additional employer compliance fees paid to Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada in some cases

Eligibility Criteria

In order to be considered for this scholarship program, applicants must fulfil the following criteria:

  • Candidate must be enrolled as full time students at post secondary institutions in the eligible countries/ territories and paying any tuition fees required by these institutions at the time of application and for the full duration of the exchange
  • A candidate who holds Canadian citizenship or permanent residency, or who has a pending application for permanent residency in Canada is not eligible
  • Candidate already participating in an exchange scholarship program funded by the government of Canada is not eligible
  • Candidates already enrolled in a program at a Canadian post-secondary institution are not eligible.

To be eligible, candidates must be:

  • citizens of a country/territory listed below:
    • Asia: Bangladesh, Nepal, Taiwan;
    • Europe: Türkiye, Ukraine;
    • Middle East and North Africa: Algeria, Egypt, Jordan, Morocco, Tunisia;
    • Sub-Saharan Africa: Burkina Faso, Ethiopia, Ghana, Ivory Coast, Kenya, Nigeria, Rwanda, Senegal, Tanzania, Uganda.

Canadian post-secondary institutions interested in hosting students must:

  • be a Designated Learning Institution  (DLI);
  • have a valid student exchange agreement with the student’s home institution that waives tuition fees for scholarship recipients (required for college/undergraduate study only).

How to Apply/ Download Scholarship Form/ Documents Required

The application process for this scholarship program is online. To apply online visit the following link:

  • Select “Login or Register” to create a My EduCanada account for your institution. Ensure to select Institution for your account type.
  • Once you have logged into your account, select the Study in Canada Scholarships Program and click Apply.
  • Enter data in the required fields and follow the instructions on the application form.
  • Click Validate and save as you progress through the application form.
  • Upload all required supporting documents. Each document must be smaller than 5 MB and in .jpg, .gif, .png, .pdf, .doc, .docx, .txt or .xlsx format.
  • Review all components of your application for accuracy and completeness.
  • Read and accept the conditions of the “Declaration and permission” statement. Click Submit. You will receive a confirmation message and a reference number for submitted applications.
  • Print or download the form for your records using the “Print | Download” function.

Attach all necessary documents with the application form:

  • Proof citizenship/ identity
  • Proof of full time enrolment
  • Letter of intent from the candidate
  • Letter of support from the home institution
  • A signed copy of the Memorandum of understanding or agreement with the partner institution
  • Letter of invitation from the Canadian supervisor
  • Privacy notice statement.

Note: Applications with missing documents will not be entertained.
