Biography of Charles B. Clark

Early Life

Charles B. Clark founder of Kimberly-Clark Corporation was a famous American businessman and entrepreneur. He was born in the year of 1844 on August 24th in Theresa, New York in United States of America. He was very young when his father died of an accident and due to this reason; he was brought up in immense poverty. He got his education in common schools but couldn’t continue his education due to short income resources. He moved to the other city of the Wisconsin state known as Neenah from his hometown with his widowed mother. Due to improper education and family financial problems, he started his career in a quite young age.

Initial Career

He started his career through a job in American armed forces. He was enlisted in a company of twenty first regiment known as Company-I. This army unit was a part of Wisconsin Volunteer infantry which was formed and saved with the same unit during the American Civil War. After that, he worked in many other jobs like mercantile pursuits, banking and the paper manufacturing industry.

As he was doing job in paper industry those days, one of his friends had an idea to start his own business. His friend named as John A. Kimberly shared his idea with one of his best friends Charles B. Clark, who supported him in his idea and offered him his help. Actual problem they were facing, that was shortage of funds and investments. They involved their other two friends named as Havilah Babcock and Frank C. Shattuck. After all this process of ideas sharing, Kimberly-Clark Corporation was the name suggested by all of them.

Kimberly-Clark Corporation was co founded by John A. Kimberly and three of his friends named as Havilah Babcock, Franck c. Shattuck and Charles B. Clark. It was founded in the year of 1872 as a personal care company. It is generally a kind of company which produces the paper based consumer products. The products of this company include facial tissue, Kotex feminine, hygiene products, Scott toilet papers and Andrex. Presently this company has more than 58,000 employees and its main industry is about manufacturing and production of personal and household goods. The head quarter of the company is in Irving, Texas in United States of America. The initial investment of the company was just 30,000 USD which were collected equally by all partners but presently its global revenues are more than 21.1 Billion United States dollars. The company was listed as number one place to work list in the year of 1998.

Death

He died in the year of 1891 on September 10th in Watertown, New York in USA. He was almost 47 years of age at the time of his death.
