Difference between Kosher Salt, Table Salt, and Sea Salt

Salt plays very important role in our life as they are not produced by our body and are taken from some external source. If proper amount of salt is not taken then your muscles will stop working and will eventually fails. Salt are also very important for maintaining electrolyte in our body. Electrolytes are very important for body. Salt stimulates salivary glands present in our mouth for taste and digestion and it also produces hydrochloric acid which also helps in digestion.

Kosher Salt

Kosher salt is a type of salt. It is named kosher due to its use in processing meat and removing blood from surface. Kosher salt has a flat plate like shape. In kosher there is no amount of iodine like other salts. It is found naturally in salt mines.

Table Salt

Table salt is composed of sodium chloride. And it is mainly used in processing food. The processed food contains a large amount of sodium in it and sodium is very essential for our body. But sodium also has a disadvantage that it heavily causes variation in blood pressure which is dangerous for adults and the amount of sodium must be controlled.

 Sea Salt

Sea salt is not extracted from rocks rather than it is obtained by evaporating the seawater. It is believed that sea salt has better taste as well as has better texture as compared to other salts. It is mainly composed of calcium, sodium, chloride and potassium.

Kosher Salt VS Table Salt VS Sea Salt

Texture:

Kosher salt are large chips of salt. And are not in powered form and due to the presence of flakes it is not much denser.

Table salt in fined and equally shaped crystals due to this reason it is denser than other salt.

Sea salt also consists of blisters which are not of equal size due to which this is not much dense.

Processing:

Kosher salt has not gone through much processing.

Table salt is the most processed form of salts.

Sea salt has gone through even less processing than table and kosher salt.

Iodine content:

In kosher the amount of iodine is zero as it contains no iodine in it.

Table salt contains a sufficient amount of iodine as many people in the universe are affected by many diseases related with iodine deficiency.

Sea salt contains iodine but no sufficient enough to fulfill body requirements.

Uses:

Kosher salt is mostly used by religious people for removing blood from the meat.

Table salt is used in cooking commonly and specially when boiling something as it contains iodine.

Sea salt is not cheaper so it is not used widely.

Conclusion

There are many types of salts present in the market. All the types of salt have their own advantages and disadvantages. Excessive use of salt is causing many problems related with blood pressure. Precautions should be taken in order to use salt and the quantity of salt should be used with caution.
