Biography of Ferdinand Porsche

Early Life

Ferdinand Porsche Founder of Porsche Automobil Holding SE was born on 3rd September, 1875 in Maffersdorf northern Bohemia, which was a part of Austro-Hungarian Empire at that time, today that part is a country named Czech Republic. His father worked as a master panel beater. His father’s name was Anton Porsche and was a German speaker.

From his very early age he had great interest in mechanical works. He got education at the Imperial Technical School located in Reichenberg. He attended classes at night time while in day time he helped his father and worked with his father at a mechanical shop owned by his father.

Early Career

At the age of eighteen years he got a job in an electric company named Bela Egger Electrical Company located in Vienna. While working, he also tried to continue his study and he went to local university whenever he got chance from his work. Besides those classes which he attended by sneaking out of the work he had no formal higher education in engineering department. He also developed his first electric hub motor while working with Bela Eager Electrical Company.

When the First World War ended and the Austro-Hungarian Empire was broken, he became a citizen of Czechoslovakia. But in 1934 he was announced as the naturalized German citizen by Adolf Hitler.

Founder of Porsche Automobil Holding SE

After working for many companies, he also worked for a company that manufactured automobiles and that company was sold in 1906. Then he worked for another company and gained so much experience of forming, designing and manufacturing of automobiles. Eventually in 1931 he left his job and used his knowledge on the commercial basis. He founded a consultation company named Dr. Ing. h. c. F. Porsche GmbH.  His company was located at Kronenstrabe 24 at the centre of Stuttgart. That company offered consultation services for motor vehicle development. It was not included in the manufacturing of the vehicles and automobiles. So at that time there was no name of Porsche cars. That company got its first consignment from the government of Germany. That work was of designing a car for the common public. That car was Volkswagen Beetle, which became the most successful car of the company. In 1939 company worked on manufacturing of the cars and developed its first car named Porsche 64. In that car most of the components were of the Beetle car.

Porsche Automobil Holding SE is a multinational company of Germany in the field of automobile manufacturing. It is commonly known as Porsche. This company has the investments in the automotive company. It’s headquarter is located in Zuffenhausen, which is a city district of Stuttgart, Baden-Wuttemberg. This company is owned by the Porsche and Peich families.

Initially this company was founded by Ferdinand Porsche as a consultancy company which gave advises to people for the automobiles. In this company his brother in law was also his partner whose name was Anton Piech.

His Personality in German History

His personality is regarded as one of the most important persons in the history of Germany. He did so many contributions for Germany in the Second World War. He was a participant in the development of some high quality tanks named as the Tiger I, Tiger II, Panzer, and so many other tanks. Apart from tanks he was also involved in the formation of modern bombs. Moreover he was also a member of the German Nazi Party.

For his contributions in German history he was given the German National Prize for Art and Science. He was awarded the title of the Great German Engineer, which was given to him by Nazis.

Death

He died on 30th January, 1951.
