Biography of Gautam Adani

Early Life

Gautam Adani founder of the Adani Group was born in Ratanpol, Ahmedabad, India on 24th June, 1962. He belonged to the Jain family of Gujarat, India. His parents migrated from a northern part of Gujarat named Tharad. He was born to Shantilal and ShantaAdani. Apart from him, his parents had seven other children. He passed his schooling life from Seth C. N. Vidyalya School of Ahmedabad. After completing his schooling career he entered into university life, that life he spent in the Gujarat University. He was pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Commerce but he studied for only two years and after that he left the studies.

In his personal life he is married to Priti Adani. His wife is a dentist and a Managing Trustee in his foundation named Adani Foundation. This couple has two sons named Jeet Adani and Karan Adani.

Early Career

His father was a business tycoon of Ahmedabad and was running a textile unit there. But he wanted to do something by himself so instead of joining his father’s company he went to Mumbai at the early age of just 18 years. He went to Mumbai with just few rupees in his hand to start a business of his own. In Mumbai, he joined a diamond company as a diamond sorter, named Mahindra Brothers. He worked there for two years and after that job he started his own brokerage business of diamonds in Mumbai, India. That business became very successful and within no time he became a millionaire. But in 1980s he added many more millions in it and expanded his business.

His brother named Mahasukh Adani, purchased a factory of plastic products in Ahmedabad and called him back to run that new plastic factory. He came back to Ahmedabad and entered into the business of commodity trading. He used to make the plastic products by importing PVC (Polyvinyl Chloride), at that time PVC was a new type of raw material for producing plastic products.

Founder of Adani Group

He founded Adani Exports Limited in 1988 which is now known as the Adani Enterprises Ltd. That company was engaged in the manufacturing of power and agricultural products. In 1991 there was economic liberalization in the country which further helped him to increase his business and that small entity of just power and agricultural products turned into a bigger conglomerate named as Adani Group. He was also invited by the government of Gujarat for running the Mundra Port in 1995. That was a contract offered to some private companies in 1993 and after several time it was given to Adani Group. In present day world that port is the largest private sector port of India and it has capacity for 80 million tons per annum cargo to enter the port.

Adani Group

The Adani Group is a company of India in the field of logistics, energy and agribusiness sectors. It’s headquarter is located in Ahmedabad, India. This company also has the honor for developing and operating the India’s largest port named Mundra Port.

Later Life

In his later life he remained the owner of Adani Group. He has also done so many works of charity in his life. He remained in the headlines in 2014’s general elections for so many controversies.
