Maastricht University High Potential Scholarships for International Students 2018 / 2019

Maastricht University (UM) is offering full time Holland-high potential scholarship program for international (outside the EU / EEA) students. The UM is offering 24 full time scholarships in master study at the UM in the Netherlands. This scholarship is funded by Maastricht university scholarship fund as well as Dutch Ministry of Education, Culture and Science.

Numbers of Scholarships

Approximately 24 full scholarships are offered annually for international students to study in master’s programs.

Duration of Scholarships

  • 13 months for a one-year master’s program
  • 25 months for a two-year master’s program

Scholarships Description / Details

The scholarship provides €29.000 (including tuition fee waiver and monthly stipend) each academic year. These scholarships are awarded to the highly talented students from outside the European Union.

Maastricht university high potential scholarships provide many grants for the applicants, these following grants are:

Living expenses € 12,350 (13 months) or € 23,750 (25 months)
Health & liability insurance € 520 (subject to change in 2019)
Visa application costs € 192 (subject to change in 2019)
Tuition fees € 13,000,  € 15,000 or € 17,500 depending on the tuition of selected study program
Pre-Academic Training costs € 695 (subject to change in 2019)

Eligibility Criteria

In order to be considered for Maastricht university high potential scholarship, applicants must fulfill the following criteria:

  • Must be a resident of a country outside the EU / EEA.
  • Should qualify all the requirements needed for visa and residence permit for the Netherlands.
  • Must have applied for a master’s degree at Maastricht university for 2019 / 2020 year.
  • Must meet the specific admission requirements of the UM Master’s program to which you have applied.
  • Have never participated in a degree-seeking higher education program, a primary education program, or secondary education program in the Netherlands.
  • Not over 35 years of age on 1 September 2019.
  • Have excellent academic record.

How to Apply / Download Scholarships Form / Documents Required

Applicants can apply for this scholarship, must follow some steps:

  • Register online for master’s program of your choice, you need to compete the admission application via Studielink.
  • Upon successful submission of application, you will receive a student ID number which will be used for scholarship application.
  • Fill in the scholarship application form and attach the required documents.
  • Ask the referee (you provided in the application) to send their reference letter to university by email scholarship@maastrichtuniversity.nl before 1st February 2019.

  • Proof of academic excellence
  • The contact details of one referee (family member will not be considered)

Note: All documents need to be in .doc, .docx, or .pdf form. Applicant must write the work / institutional email of the referee (personal email will be rejected). Referee has to follow these scholarship reference letter guidelines to write and email the letter.
