New Zealand Government Scholarships for International Students

The Ministry of foreign affairs and trade is offering scholarships for international students (selected countries). These scholarships are offered for those applicants who want to pursue their undergraduate and postgraduate study programs at the selected universities of New Zealand. It is a fully funded scholarship program to study for bachelors, masters, Ph.D., or post doctoral degree programs. This scholarship program recommends study subjects for the candidate’s country.

Field of Study/ Subjects

Applicants can choose different fields available for each of the countries for the undergraduate, postgraduate, Ph.D., or post doctoral programs under this scholarship program. Fields offered according to applicant’s countries are mentioned here.

Number of Scholarships

Many number of scholarship awards are offered annually.

Duration of Scholarships

Duration for the undergraduate degree program is 3- 4 years, the postgraduate degree program is 1 year, the Ph.D. degree program is 3.5 years, and the master’s degree program is 1- 2 years.

Scholarships Description/ Details

This scholarship program offers the following grants:

  • Full tuition fees.
  • A full stipend of living allowance (NZ$491) per week.
  • An establishment allowance of NZ$3000.
  • Medical insurance (when the candidate is in New Zealand).
  • Travel to and from your own country (this is for travel from your own country at the start of your scholarship, and return travel at the end of your scholarship).
  • Travel insurance.
  • Travel home during your scholarship (one or two trips).
  • Help with research and thesis costs for many postgraduate students.
